Carney Public Schools Board of Education voted to hire Melissa Newport as the Superintendent during a special meeting on June 1, 2018.

Mrs. Newport began her career in education at the Oklahoma State Department of Education where she spent almost 5 years in the Professional Services Division. She worked at White Rock Public Schools from April 2014 – June 2018. During that time she worked as a teacher, a year as the 21st CCLC Coordinator, a year as the Finance Officer and School Turnaround Officer.

She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and a master’s degree from Liberty Christian University in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Mrs. Newport and her husband, Alex, are excited and proud to have all three of their children in Carney Elementary School next year.

”I am excited to be able to serve the community of Carney” Newport said. “The school board, teachers, and staff that I have met have been exceptional. I can already see that they are working hard to do what is right for kids. I am excited to be given the opportunity to serve and lead in a district with such wonderful people.” (June 2018)
